How to Make the Perfect Apple Pie

Apple pie is a quintessential part of Thanksgiving. Making an apple pie isn't as difficult as you might think - the following tips will help you make the perfect pie!

1. Prepare the pie crust.

Tip: The easiest way to make a pie crust is to use a food processor. Don't overwork it! You want butter flakes to be still visible.

2. Divide the pie crust and chill.

Tip: It's easier when you divide the pie crust before chilling it. You need two crusts for the bottom and the top of the pie.

3. Prepare the apple filling.

Tip: Let the filling rest for 20-30 minutes so that the apples release some of their juice. This avoids a soupy and soggy pie.

4. Roll out the pie crust and place it into a baking dish.

Tip: Make sure you have enough overhang so that you can seal and flute the edges.

5. Spoon the filling into the crust without the liquid.

Tip: Use a slotted spoon for spooning the filling into the crust.

6. Discard the liquid.

Tip: The apples will release quite a bit of their juices due to the sugar. Make sure you add as little as possible of the liquid to the pie crust.

7. Roll out the second pie crust.

Tip: Cut it into strips of various thicknesses. This will make for a beautiful design.

8. Decorate to your liking.

Tip: Use any leftover crust for decoration. Roses or leaves are gorgeous!

9. Bake and chill.

Tip: Chill it in the fridge for a few hours or overnight so that the filling thickens.

Serve and Enjoy!  I hope you feel inspired to make apple pie at home.  Happy Baking!
