Plant-Based Paneer Subsitute

Tofu is a good substitute for paneer due to its similar texture and ability to absorb flavors from other ingredients in a dish, much like paneer. It also retains its shape when cooked, like paneer.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup extra firm tofu

Instructions

  • Drain the tofu from its package.
  • Wrap the tofu in a clean, absorbent towel and place it on a flat surface.
  • Place a heavy object, such as a pan or a book, on top of the wrapped tofu.
  • Allow the tofu to sit for 15-20 minutes. This will help remove excess moisture and make the tofu's texture more similar to paneer.
