Egg yolks White sugar Milk Cinnamon Vanilla Nutmeg Whipping cream Dark rum

Ingredients

Whisk egg yolks and sugar with a stand or handheld mixer. Mix them for about 2-3 minutes or until the mixture is creamy and pale.

1

Heat milk and cinnamon in a heavy saucepan until it boils. Stir continuously.

2

Add ¼ cup of your hot milk mixture into your egg yolks and whisk. This will temper your eggs. Then, pour the tempered egg yolks into the hot milk.

3

Cook the mixture for 5 minutes over low heat. This will thicken it. Don’t let it boil!

4

Remove the mixture from the heat then stir in your vanilla and nutmeg. Let the mixture cool to room temperature. Continue stirring to ensure your eggnog stays smooth, creamy, and lump-free.

5

Whisk your heavy cream until soft peaks form. Then, add this to your cooled milk mixture with rum. Stir until they’re fully incorporated.

6

Chill your eggnog for at least 2-3 hours. You can also add more spices for decoration before serving.
