Slow cooker
Airtight container
Immersion Blender
- 6 pounds apples (One or more varieties)
- ⅔ cup white or brown sugar
- 2 sticks cinnamon (Optional)
- 1 cup water
Wash your apples and then peel and core them.
Slice them into small pieces.
Place all the ingredients in your crockpot.
Cover your crockpot and set it to cook for about three to four hours, depending on how cooked you want your apples to be. Three hours will be enough if you want a chunky texture.
Once done, transfer the cooked ingredients to your immersion blender and pulse until smooth.
Use the amount you need and transfer any remaining homemade applesauce to an airtight container.
While you can boil the apples for around 30 minutes, I find that using the crockpot is better because it slowly brings out and blends the flavors efficiently. This homemade applesauce can last up to seven days when refrigerated or three months when frozen.
