Hey, I'm Jason Phillips, a recipe developer, culinary arts graduate, and travel writer. My passion lies in exploring new and innovative recipes that combine my love for culinary arts and my experiences as a globetrotter.

After completing culinary school, I embarked on a professional cooking career while also pursuing my dream of writing. Following the advice of my chef instructor, I published a cookbook and travel memoir, which beautifully captured my culinary adventures. Throughout my journey, I've developed a deep appreciation for creating chef-quality meals that are accessible to home cooks, ensuring that anyone can enjoy them.
Travel has always been a part of who I am. Growing up in a Navy family, I was exposed to a diverse range of cultures and their incredible cuisines. It was during these travels that my culinary journey truly began. As a young man, I eagerly boarded a tugboat, exploring different culinary outposts and immersing myself in their unique techniques. I relished the opportunity to infuse these techniques with my own, honing my skills along the way.

Four years ago, I ventured into the world of gourmet coffee by starting The Jazz Pantry. The intricacies and endless varieties of coffee fascinated me, and I've since made it a personal quest to source beans from all corners of the globe. These beans serve as the foundation for my diverse recipes and, of course, for brewing the most delicious cups of coffee.
In 2021, my cookbook and travel memoir, The Sea Cook: Recipes and Tales From The Galley, was published. This captivating work chronicles my culinary journey as a cook aboard offshore tugboats, intertwined with the captivating places I've visited.
Within its pages, you'll find a collection of essays that showcase some of the most unique locations I've explored. Each essay is complemented by carefully crafted recipes that embrace the culinary culture of the ports of call I've encountered. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire readers to embark on their own culinary adventures.
