Hi, I’m JL!
I’m a Southern homesteader who’s been cooking from scratch for as long as I can remember. If you know anything about the South, you know we like fried chicken, BBQ, watermelon, and sweet tea!
Unfortunately, a little over twenty years ago, my firstborn was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes, and we had to say goodbye to a good majority of our Southern cuisine.

We ditched all the deep-fat fried, sugar-laden, and bleached foods, and embraced whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy omegas, and legumes.
I hit the books learning everything I could about proper nutrition, healthy eating, culinary medicine, and a number of healthy diet plans. It was completely different than anything we'd ever known.
In my journey, not only did I discover a passion for herbs, but I rediscovered what our ancestors already knew: the impact that natural herbs and holistic foods have on our health and wellness.
From helping us assimilate our food to combating pathogens to aiding digestion, herbs, and other holistic foods do so much more than enhance flavor and offer sustenance.
Fast forward twenty years and now I’m an herb junkie! With herbs from my own garden, I create infused oils, vinegars, honeys, and condiments for seasoning, marinating, and sweetening.

They go perfectly with Sunday's 'fried' chicken and potatoes from the air fryer!
For the past few years, I've had the pleasure of collaborating with many local ‘direct to table’ sustainable farmers and ranchers to showcase their culinary wares with tantalizing flavors.
I now have the opportunity to share that same information with you through Also the Crumbs Please.
Whether culinary medicine, mouthwatering recipes, cooking techniques, or even convenient kitchen appliances, I’m happy to share my knowledge and experience with our readers in hopes that all can experience the joy of creating healthy culinary masterpieces.
