Hello, I’m Michelle, a writer for Also the Crumbs, Please.

I’m a home cook who loves trying new recipes from various cuisines. I have hosted a dozen foreign exchange students over the years, and one of my favorite activities is learning how to cook some of their native dishes! Together, we’ve made delicacies such as German potato pancakes, Thai larb pork, French crepes, Spanish tapas, and Lebanese tabbouleh.
Food quality is very important to me. I buy the highest quality ingredients I can, which makes for amazing dishes. I haven’t quite mastered the art of gardening yet, but I’m working on my vegetable garden as well as my collection of backyard fruit trees. Here in sunny Southwest Florida, I’m able to grow mangoes, citrus fruit, and figs, among other things! My goal is to grow many of my own ingredients.

I tend to be a bit of an old-fashioned cook, preferring to mix and chop by hand rather than rely on electric mixers and food processors. With that being said, I also love shortcuts like using my air fryer to create quick, healthy meals.
Of course, I don’t cook everything I eat. I like to dine out, and I try to try all of the regional specialties when I go somewhere new. My last foodie vacation destination was New Orleans, where I enjoyed shrimp and grits, alligator and crawfish cheesecake, rabbit fricassee, turtle soup, bananas foster, crawfish etouffee, and, of course, lots and lots of beignets.
In addition to food-related posts, I have also written personal finance, travel, and gardening articles for various websites and publications.
I love to hear from my readers! Feel free to drop me a line at freelancingmichelle@gmail.com, or you can follow my food account on Instagram.
