Try This Air Fryer Egg Salad Toast
If you love a good egg salad sandwich recipe, this air fryer version is definitely worth making. The bread comes out crispy, and the creamy egg filling is rich and filling, and kids love it, too.
I especially love making this air fryer egg toast on mornings that are hectic, because it really cooks quickly, giving me time to do other things, too.
Why You'll Love It
- High in protein: The eggs and cheese make a filling breakfast that keeps me full for hours.
- Quick and easy: Everything is ready in about 20 minutes, and the meal prep is fast.
- Crispy and creamy: You get toasted bread with a creamy egg salad filling.
- Easy to customize: Add vegetables, herbs, or your favorite cheese, whatever your preference is.
Ingredients

- Bread: I like using thick slices because they crisp better and keep the filling inside.
- Boiled egg: The main part of the filling. Make sure to hard boil eggs properly for the best texture.
- Grated cheese: I usually use Gouda, but any mild cheese works just as well.
- Bell pepper: This adds more freshness, color, and a little bit of crunch.
How to Make Air Fryer Egg Salad Toast
1. Boil the eggs on the stove for 8 minutes or longer. Once cooked, peel the eggs, grate the cheese, and slice the bell pepper into thin strips.
2. In a small bowl, mash the boiled egg with a fork. Mix in the grated cheese and some salt if using, until combined. I like leaving some larger pieces of egg yolk for extra texture.
Note: I’m using Gouda, but feel free to use your favorite cheese. However, I suggest you opt for milder ingredients so that they don’t overpower other flavors. Edam or Gouda cheese is an excellent choice.
3. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (180°C). Place the slices of bread at the bottom of the air fryer basket. If they fit, you can place two or even four slices. Air fry the bread for 2 minutes.

4. Once the piece of bread is slightly toasted, use a spoon to spread the egg and cheese mixture onto the bread. Top it off with some chopped bell pepper pieces and the toppings of your choice.
5. Place another slice of bread on top and air fry for approximately 5 minutes or until your bread is crispy to your preference.

6. Once the toast is ready, place it on a serving dish. You can garnish the toast with chopped herbs and freshly ground pepper. Serve warm.
Recipe Tips

- I find that using freshly boiled eggs gives the filling the best flavor. If you're preparing eggs ahead of time, store them in the fridge until needed.
- Don't skip preheating the air fryer. It helps the bread toast evenly and gives the cheese time to melt properly.
- I prefer milder cheese types because they don’t overpower the taste of the other filling.
- Keep an eye on the toast during the final minute because it can go from perfectly golden to burnt to a crisp quite quickly.
- You can add anything extra you like, including mayonnaise, tomato sauce, chives, etc.
What Can You Serve With This?

- Fresh fruit salad
- Crispy bacon
- Turkey sausage
- Mixed green salad

- Fresh orange juice
- Coffee or tea
FAQs
