This quick air fryer omelette is an easy breakfast when I want eggs without standing over a frying pan. The eggs cook with Parmesan, then Gouda goes on for the final couple of minutes, giving the omelette a soft, cheesy middle and melted cheese on top, giving you a fluffy air fryer omelette as an end result.

Try This Quick Air Fryer Omelette

If omelettes usually mean getting out a frying pan and keeping an eye on the stove, this is one of those air fryer breakfast recipes that makes breakfast much easier. The eggs cook right in the air fryer, with Parmesan mixed through and Gouda melted over the top, making a delicious omelette every time.

I especially like the combination of the two cheeses here as a healthy breakfast option. The Parmesan adds flavor throughout the eggs, while the Gouda gives you that warm, melted cheese on top, making this an easy egg recipe even kids love.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Quick to make: A delicious breakfast that takes just 2 minutes to prep and 12 minutes to cook, less time than using the oven.
  • Plenty of cheese: Parmesan is mixed into the eggs, and Gouda cheese melts over the top. Feta, Mozzarella, and cheddar cheese can also be used as substitutions.
  • No flipping: Once the egg mixture is in the lined air fryer basket, there’s no need to flip the omelette; less mess and fuss.
  • Easy to change up with mix-ins: Bell peppers, spinach, onions, mushrooms, garlic powder, bacon bits, fresh herbs, green onion, red bell pepper, tomatoes, fresh veggies, breakfast sausages, or ham are all suggested variations and additions.

Ingredients

omelette ingredients
  • Whole Eggs: Four large eggs make the base of this easy omelette recipe. I’d give them the full minute of beating because thoroughly beaten eggs help give the finished omelette a fluffier texture.
  • Gouda cheese: I like that this goes on near the end instead of disappearing into the egg mixture. Two minutes is enough time for it to melt over the cooked omelette.
  • Parmesan cheese: This gets stirred directly into the beaten eggs, so you get its salty, cheesy flavor throughout rather than only on top.
  • Dried basil: Just half a teaspoon adds a little herby flavor to the eggs. Fresh chopped chives or parsley are also suggested if you want to change it.

How to Make Quick Air Fryer Omelette

1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

2. In a small bowl, crack and beat 4 eggs with a fork or a whisk for about 1 minute.

3. Add Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper according to your taste to the beaten eggs. Mix the mixture thoroughly.

4. Place a parchment paper liner in the bottom of the preheated air fryer basket. Apply a small amount of olive oil to the parchment paper using a silicone pastry brush to evenly coat it.

Note: If you don't have a dedicated air fryer baking tray, you can use regular parchment paper, folding it to create a square shape. The sides of the form don't need to be very high, as the omelette won't rise much.

5. Pour the egg mixture into the parchment paper.

6. Cook the omelette in the air fryer for 10 minutes (a toothpick should come out mostly clean).

7. Then add the cheese on top and continue cooking for another 2 minutes. After 12 minutes, your omelette should be ready.

8. Serve your fluffy omelette hot and enjoy a fantastic breakfast to kickstart your day!

Recipe Tips

  • Beat the eggs thoroughly before cooking to help give the omelette a fluffy texture.
  • Use parchment paper or non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make the omelette easier to remove.
  • Start checking the omelette around the 10-minute mark.
  • If it’s browning too quickly, reduce the temperature slightly next time.
  • If the center isn’t setting, give it a little more cooking time.
  • Omelet leftovers keep well for 2 days in the refrigerator, and storage in an airtight container is recommended. Simply warm it in the microwave.

FAQs

Can I add vegetables to an air fryer omelette?

Yes. Diced bell peppers, spinach, onions, and mushrooms are all some of my suggested additions.

What temperature do you cook an egg omelet?

For a perfectly fluffy omelet, I recommend cooking it at 400°F (200°C) in an air fryer. However, stove-top omelets are typically cooked on medium heat to ensure even cooking without burning.

What's the difference between a fried egg and an omelette?

A fried egg is cooked with the yolk intact, resulting in a distinct yolk and white portion. An omelette, on the other hand, involves beating the eggs and often mixing in other ingredients like cheese, herbs, and vegetables, then cooking until set.
