This roasted red pepper dip is exactly the kind of recipe I love keeping in the fridge because it makes everything taste better. I’m someone who likes bold, savory flavors, and any appetizer that is garlicky, smoky, and easy to use a teaspoon to put onto a sandwich gets my attention immediately.

If you enjoy dips like hummus or whipped feta, you’ll probably love this San Marzano Pizza Sauce too. But this roasted red pepper dip has that deeper roasted flavor that feels a little more special.

What Is Roasted Red Pepper Sauce Dip?
Roasted red pepper dip is a blended savory dip made with roasted peppers, garlic, olive oil, bread, nuts, and seasonings. You can add onion too if you like.
This good dip is inspired by romesco, so it has a smoky, nutty, slightly tangy flavor that works with almost anything. Make sure you make enough, as I doubt there will be any leftover dip available once you try it!
Why You’ll Love This
• Super easy: I love how simple the air fryer makes roasting the peppers.
• Big flavor: Smoky peppers, garlic, and almonds work beautifully together.
• Perfect Texture: Smooth, full of creaminess, and great for dipping or spreading.
• Versatile: I use this easy snack made from simple ingredients with bread, chicken, in a wrap, on crackers, and vegetables.
Ingredients

- Red Ramiro sweet peppers: The star of the dip with natural sweetness once roasted.
- Almonds: Gives body and nuttiness.
- Garlic: Adds bold savory flavor.
- Bread: Helps thicken the dip and gives texture.
- Tomato: Adds freshness and depth.
- Olive oil: Makes everything rich and silky.
- Red wine vinegar: Gives brightness and balance.
- Paprika & basil: Adds warmth and extra flavor.
How to Make Roasted Red Pepper Dip
1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
2. Rinse the Ramiro peppers, remove the seeds, and cut them into pieces.
3. Place the peppers in your air fryer basket with the skin facing up and roast for about 20 minutes. The pepper skin might be charred in some spots, which is perfectly normal.

4. After 20 minutes, remove the peppers and place them in a large bowl with a lid. Let them cool for 20-30 minutes. This will make it easy to peel off the skin.
5. While the peppers are cooling, place the halved tomato, a garlic clove, and a slice of bread on the bottom of the air fryer basket. Roast for approximately 5 minutes or until the bread has a golden crust.

6. Once done, remove the bread, garlic, and tomato from the air fryer.
7. Remove the tomato skin and place the roasted tomato in the blender cup along with the garlic, bread, all the remaining spices, olive oil, and vinegar.
8. Take the peppers out of the bowl and peel off the skin. If you don't like the charred edges of the peppers, you can trim them with a knife. Place the peppers in the blender cup as well.

9. Blend all the ingredients.
10. Transfer the sauce to a storage container and refrigerate for 30 minutes before consuming. You can also use the sauce immediately if you wish.
Recipe Tips
- Ensure your peppers are dry after rinsing to prevent steam from forming in the air fryer, which could hinder that desirable char.
- When arranging the peppers in the air fryer, give them ample space to ensure even roasting and avoid overcrowding.
- Be mindful of the garlic when roasting them alongside the tomato. They may require a quick check midway to prevent burning due to their smaller size.
- Peeling the peppers becomes a breeze when you allow them to cool in a covered bowl, as the steam helps loosen the skin.
- When blending, start at a lower speed to ensure all ingredients are smoothly incorporated before ramping it up for a velvety finish.
NOTE: While muhammara is another Mediterranean-style dip made with roasted red peppers, it traditionally includes walnuts and breadcrumbs. This version skips both, though many of the other flavors overlap.
What Can You Serve With This?

The air fryer proves to be a splendid method for roasting peppers, providing a perfect char and smoky flavor without the mess and constant attention required by other methods.
Roasting peppers, especially in an air fryer, is often preferred over frying due to the reduced oil usage and the ability to achieve a smoky char without splattering oil, offering a healthier and cleaner cooking experience.
Yes, you can still use slightly over-charred peppers, as they will add a smoky flavor to the sauce. However, if they are burnt to a crisp or have a bitter taste, it’s best to discard them to avoid affecting the overall flavor of the sauce.
To balance an overly acidic or bitter sauce, consider adding a pinch of sugar or a drizzle of honey. You can also add a splash of olive oil or a small amount of roasted nuts to help mellow out the acidity and enhance the richness of the sauce.
Certainly! While an immersion blender makes the process smooth and easy, you can use a regular countertop blender or a food processor. Just ensure to blend in batches if needed and be cautious with hot ingredients to prevent splattering.
If the sauce separates, it’s typically still safe to use. Simply give it a good stir to recombine the ingredients. However, always check for any signs of spoilage, like an off smell or mold, before using.
Yes, pre-roasted jarred peppers can be a time-saving alternative. Just be sure to drain and possibly rinse them to remove excess vinegar or brine, and pat them dry before using them to maintain the intended flavor profile of the sauce.
