On my journey as a homesteader, I've come to value the natural benefits of manuka honey. Trust me when I say that not all honey is created equal. I've sampled numerous brands, compiling my experiences in my best manuka honey article.
Today, I'm sharing my thoughts on Comvita. They've been in the manuka honey business since 1974, straight from New Zealand. From my experience, their UMF-certified and multifloral manuka honey stands out. Beyond honey, they also offer products for kids and have a range with bee propolis.
Overall, taste-wise, Comvita Manuka Honey has a delightful flavor. And while Comvita might not be the most transparent brand I've encountered from New Zealand, their long history and the certifications they hold give me confidence in their product.
Everyone's needs are unique. If Convita works for me, you might find another brand that better suits your specifics. If you're curious about Comvita and want to see if it aligns with your needs, continue through this review.

Comvita is a global B Corporation dedicated to meeting its social and environmental performance standards. They pride themselves on being leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy, and tout becoming carbon neutral by 2025.
In addition to their manuka honey line, they also offer a line of olive leaf extract, bee propolis, and Medihoney antibacterial wound gel.
Purity and Authenticity

Although Comvita doesn't make known the whereabouts of their hives, their manuka honey is UMF-certified, giving you peace of mind regarding its authenticity.
Their manuka honey is independently tested, measuring the three distinct compounds: methylglyoxal (MGO),  dihydroxyacetone (DHA), and leptosperin. This ensures you get pure unpasteurized monofloral manuka honey.
Although Comvita claims their manuka honey is traceable from hive to shelf, they offer no means of verification like other companies do, which makes them a little less transparent. However, Comvita's credentials prove they offer some of the best manuka honeys around the world.
Environmental and Customary Accreditations
Comvita carries the internationally recognized UMF certification on all of its monofloral honey.
Additionally, they're part of the non-GMO project guaranteeing their honey is not subject to genetic modification. Plus, they are registered exporters with the Ministry for Primary Industries and carry the FernMark seal of approval.
Comvita manuka honey is also halal- and kosher-certified, making it suitable for both Islamic and Jewish dietary laws, and it's gluten-free.
They also feature a Harmony Plan as part of their sustainability practices and use BPA-free jars. Their mission includes planting a manuka tree for every pot of honey sold. Since 2017, they've successfully planted well over six million manuka trees.
Price and Availability
There's a wide spread in the price range from the UMF 5+ to the UMF 25+. On the low end, the price is just under $3 an ounce for an 8.8 oz jar, but their highest grade UMF 20+ is over is just under $12 an ounce.
The multi-floral honey is much less, around $0.83 cents per ounce, but it doesn't have the quality standard of the unique manuka factor.
If you live in the US, shipping is absolutely free regardless of how much money you spend. This inadvertently makes Comvita one of the most affordable options for manuka honey. If you live in Mexico or the UK, however, you pay a flat rate of around $38.
UMF and GMO
All of Comvita's monofloral manuka honeys are UMF-certified and provide a MGO rating, but the multi-floral honey only has an MGO rating of 50.
One of the main selling features of manuka honey is its beauty and skincare, as well as wound care. Customers should be aware that Comvita honey sold in the US is for internal consumption only.
Taste and Texture
Comvita is thick and granular with a delicious zesty herbaceous flavor and has a honeysuckle aroma.
Its potent health benefits make it an excellent choice for your morning tea or yogurt smoothies. You can also spread it over toast or add it to your oatmeal. It even makes a delicious glaze.
For medicinal use, take a spoonful for a raw sore throat, an immunity booster, or your digestive health.
Rewards Program
Comvita doesn't offer a rewards program or subscription service like other manuka honey manufacturers do. However, they do offer some great sales.
If you're looking for a good deal on manuka honey, search no more. Visit their online store for lots of buy-one-get-one-free deals and take advantage of their free shipping.
