Air frying is one of the best methods of cooking food. I've been using air fryers (or a combo of air fryer toaster oven) to prepare a meal and reheat it for dinner.
Through my years of experience, I can't help but arrive at one important conclusion; not all air fryers are built equal. They have their own things to bring to the table.
After a few months' worth of experience in using two of the best air fryers in the league, I realized how important it is to share what I learned about these two.
So, let's discover the true winner between COSORI vs Gourmia air fryer.

Overview of the Two Air Fryers
Here's my deep dive into these air fryers, starting with the COSORI Pro III.

Overall Impression
The COSORI Pro III Air Fryer is known as the Dual Blaze, and I'll tell you why in a minute. The first thing I noticed about this air fryer when I initially got it was its sleek design.
The exterior is made out of a combination of aluminum and plastic. The parts you will most likely touch, like the handle, are made from plastic to keep it cool while it's running.
I particularly love that its minimalistic design extends to the display screen. Instead of having a huge LCD screen, the COSORI Pro III has a slim rectangular panel running from one end to the other.
Performance
One of the many things that separate COSORI Pro III from other air fryers is that it utilizes two heating elements. This is how it earned the name "Dual Blaze."
It's one of those air fryer toaster ovens that can heat your food from the top and bottom. (Toaster and convection ovens are different from air fryers in terms of fan and heat source placement.)
Do you know what's exciting about that? It means you don't need to flip your frozen French fries or other foods for an even cook!
Furthermore, the dual heating element allows you to skip the tedious "preheating" function. You can just toss your food in the basket, choose a preset, press start, and leave it be.
I've always been impressed by air fryers that have guided cooking prompts telling you when to add food and when to flip it over. I never thought the absence of it (because it's unnecessary with COSORI Pro III) would impress me even more.
Another feature I love about this air fryer is its built-in sensor, or should I say, "sensors," for better monitoring of temperature.
It automatically adjusts the temperature inside the cooking chamber if it falls below or higher than 3° F from your current setting. This avoids overcooking and helps cook your food evenly.
The best part? The COSORI Pro III Dual Blaze air fryer can do all these with minimal noise.
Design and Functionality
The COSORI Pro III has six food presets and six cooking methods for a total of 12 cooking functions. This provides you with more options and versatility in food preparation.
I also like that you can modify the presets. For instance, if you press the "Fries" option, it sets the temperature to 385° F and the timer to 20 minutes.
But if you want to change it to 10 minutes at 400° F, you can adjust it using the up and down arrows. Long-pressing the "Fries" button saves the settings for the next time you use this preset.
The package also comes with a crisper tray, and I like that it has legs on four corners instead of the traditional rubber edges. I love using this crisper tray to reheat fried chicken in my air fryer.
The legs avoid the age-old issue of crisper trays sliding to the bottom of air fryer baskets (especially when the rubber gets oily). On top of this, they also enhance air flow between the crisper tray and the bottom part of the basket.
However, one tiny issue I have with the crisper tray is the two big holes in the center. They're not big enough for meatballs to fall through, but they can be problematic for smaller foods like French fries.
Sometimes, smaller foods fall through the holes, so I have to remove the crisper tray (wait for it to cool down!) to get the food lying on the floor of the air fryer basket.
Nonetheless, its smart functions more than make up for this. The Pro III allows you to connect it with COSORI's VeSync smartphone app. Through this, you can receive notifications from your air fryer.
It tells you once it's done air frying your food and also displays the air fryer's timer on your smartphone. The VeSync app also allows you to control the air fryer either through your smartphone or, get this, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Do you want to feel like Iron Man and say, "Hey Google, reduce the temperature of Dual Blaze to 350° F" or "Alexa, extend the timer of Dual Blaze by 3 minutes"?
Well, the COSORI Pro III will make your dream come true! The VeSync app also includes countless easy-to-follow recipes. After following the steps, the next page will include a "Cook Now" button.
Pressing this will automatically set the time and temperature on your air fryer, depending on the recipe you're following on the app. Then, go to your living room, watch your favorite TV show, and wait for the app to notify you once your food is ready.
User-Friendly Features
Now, let's talk about its user-friendliness. First, all the accessories, like the basket and crisper tray, are dishwasher safe, making cleanup very convenient!
The slim rectangular display screen is also slightly angled to face the user when operating the device. Plus points for that!
However, I must mention that the start button is a "play/pause" symbol, which can be confusing initially, especially for children or the elderly.
Additionally, the "start" and "cancel" functions use the same button, so you must be careful not to press it twice when air-frying a meal.
Don't worry. These little details don't diminish the user-friendliness of the COSORI Pro III, especially once you use its scan-to-cook feature through the VeSync app.
You can use the app to access the camera and scan frozen foods. The app will then show you all the things and recipes you can cook with that ingredient.
If you want to make your own recipe, don't grab your notebook to write it down. Use the app instead! You can save your recipes and even customize meal plans with them.
Here's a little bonus for you: Save the Best Air Fryer Chicken Wings recipe in your VeSync app!
I have to share a little secret, though. My favorite feature of the COSORI Pro III is it allows you to name your air fryer through the app. Who says you can't have "Gordon Ramsay" in your kitchen?
Efficiency and Results
One of the major contributors to a food's crispiness is the time it takes to cook. Thanks to this air fryer's dual heating system, the French fries I cooked earlier were super crispy and crunchy.
I also don't have to worry about the effectiveness of the bottom burner because the air fryer basket covers it completely. Ergo, no crumbs or food residue fall near the burner, maintaining its heating efficiency.
The presets in the COSORI Pro III are legit. Most air fryers will only set the time and temperature when you choose a preset, which means it's no different than when choosing it manually.
However, COSORI Pro III gave me different results each time I switched to a different preset. That's because the upper and lower heating elements function differently depending on your preset.
For instance, choosing "Air Fry" activates both heating elements at maximum power. But if you choose "Bake," the upper heating element is at its lowest while the bottom is at its max.
Its "Bake" function also worked perfectly when I used it to make this Air Fryer Carrot Cake recipe.
Size and Capacity
As you probably already know, a square 6.8-quart air fryer is better than an oval air fryer with the same "capacity." That's because square baskets and trays give you more surface area for arranging food.
Aside from being a square air fryer, I love that the COSORI Pro III has a relatively huge basket compared to other air fryers in the same category. However, I did see one minor flaw in its construction.
Even though it's supposedly only 11.5 inches in depth, a power notch at the back extends for about an inch or an inch and ½.
That's probably not a problem since you won't be placing it with its back completely against the wall. However, this could be a little annoying when storing it in tight spaces.
What I Liked
- minimalistic design
- cool touch handle
- dual heating element
- no preheating needed
- dual sensor maintains adequate temperature

What I Didn't Like
- holes in crisper tray cause small foods to fall to the bottom
- "start" and "cancel" functions use the same button
- power notch in the back makes storage challenging
- pricier than the average air fryer
Gourmia GAF716 Air Fryer
Specifications
Manufacturer | Gourmia | |
Capacity | 7 Quarts | |
Size | 13.39"D x 13.39"W x 15"H
Weight | 13.32 lbs. | |
Power | 1700 watts | |
Temperature Range | 175°F to 400°F
Material | Stainless Steel
Presets | French Fries, Wings, Fish Fryer, Bacon, Seafood, Vegetables, Bake, Roast, Broil, Dehydrate, Toaster, Reheat, and Keep Warm |
Overall Impression
I've always been a fan of Gourmia air fryers, so I'm slightly anticipating that this would be a difficult comparison article. Just the exterior design of the Gourmia GAF716 air fryer proves that.
It's made out of stainless steel, and the chrome accents on the display panel blend perfectly with the rough finish of the exterior. On top of that, its square shape surely sets it apart from most air fryers in the market.
However, the tradeoff is that it's significantly heavier than air fryers of the same size. Most 7-quart plastic air fryers weigh five pounds at most, but the GAF716 is three times heavier at 15 pounds.
Performance
The GAF716 utilizes the Fryforce 360 technology of Gourmia, and with a 1700-watt powered engine, it's not surprising that this air fryer cooks 30% to 50% faster than traditional ovens.
The Fryforce 360 technology produces intense heat while the fan circulates hot air to create a heat vortex inside the cooking chamber.
Design and Functionality
Like the COSORI air fryer, the GAF716 multicooker offers 12 different functions. Food presets are on the left side of the display panel, while the cooking methods are on the right.
Instead of the minimalist aesthetic, Gourmia went for fun and comprehensive. The presets include names and icons, making it easier for children and the elderly to understand what the preset is for.
One major difference in preset between the Pro III and the GAF716 is the dehydrate function, something not included in the COSORI air fryer. That's possible because of GAF716's lowest temperature.
To properly dehydrate food, you will need a temperature range of 125 to 150°F, and the GAF716 can go as low as 90°F. Don't worry. You don't have to manually set this up.
Press the "dehydrate" preset, and the GAF716 will do it for you. This function makes it easier to make healthy snacks out of fruits or to preserve food for longer durations.
This air fryer also has an auto-shutoff feature that ensures you don't have to recalibrate the timer every time you pull the drawer out. The time and temperature will pick up where it left off after you put the drawer back.
But what really got my attention when using this air fryer is its guided cooking prompts. I don't particularly like pulling the drawer out to check my food and see if I should turn it over to the other side.
The GAF716 does this for you. It will tell you when to add food to the basket (after preheating) and when to flip the food over. This intuitive feature is something I enjoy for my perfectly cooked chicken wings.
User-Friendly Features
The Gourmia GAF716 has a slightly angled display screen, which means it always faces the user. This makes it relatively easier for anyone to see all the buttons and functions and operate the device.
Another user-friendly feature I love is that all the detachable parts, from the basket to the crisper tray and accessories, are dishwasher-safe. This means you can just toss them in the dishwasher for easier cleanup.
The crisper tray and air fryer basket have a nonstick coating, so you probably don't have to worry about deep cleaning very often. Still, you want to use various methods (like a touch of olive oil) to prevent residues on the equipment.
I love brands that care about user experience more than just selling a product. Gourmia guarantees this by providing a free recipe book upon purchasing the GAF716.
Efficiency and Results
When it comes to efficiency, the Gourmia GAF716 did not disappoint. Aside from achieving the perfect crispiness I want for my French fries, this air fryer produces less fat than deep frying.
Since you won't be using oil to cook food, air frying it with this device reduces its fat content by 80% to 90%.
Nonetheless, its fast cooking capabilities still allow it to retain some of the juice from the meat. I tried cooking burger patties in it and used about 80% lean beef.
After preheating, I air-fried the patties at 390°F for eight minutes before flipping them to the other side for another four minutes. The patties turned out great and were relatively juicy, almost identical to when I grilled them.
Size and Capacity
Square air fryers are already better than pod-shaped air fryers because you have more space for your food. On top of this, the Gourmia GAF716 uses a bigger basket than most 7-quart air fryers.
The basket is about 20% bigger than the average air fryer, and since it also comes with a crisper tray and a rack, you get to cook more food per batch on this device.
The spacious basket comfortably fits a whole chicken or four to five burger patties. With this cooking capacity, it's more than capable of feeding a family of five per meal.
How to Choose Between COSORI vs Gourmia Air Fryers
Before determining which option is better, let's discuss how to find the best air fryer first. Here are some factors to consider when looking for an air fryer.
Cooking Capacity
The first thing you must determine when choosing an air fryer is its cooking capacity. This decides how much food you can cook per batch.
Some air fryer models come in different capacities. That's a major advantage since you have more flexible options.
Think of how many people will use the air fryer regularly. If it's just you, a 2- to 4-quart air fryer should suffice, but if you have other people living with you, go for 7- to 10-quart air fryers.
Efficiency
The efficiency determines how well, fast, and even the air fryer cooks your food. More often than not, this is determined by the engine power relative to the cooking capacity.
For instance, 7-quart air fryers with a 1700-watt engine power are highly efficient in giving you the perfect cook. However, the heating element should also affect this.
Obviously, an air fryer of the same size and power but has two heating elements should work better than an air fryer with just one.
Temperature Range
The temperature range usually determines how many functions your air fryer can have. Most importantly, you must choose an air fryer with a maximum temperature of 400°F since most meats need to be cooked at high heat.
You have more leeway regarding the lowest temperature, but if you want to use your air fryer to dehydrate food, you should go for models with the lowest temperature at 120°F to 160° .
Cleanup
You only have two questions about air fryer cleanup: Is it dishwasher safe? Does it have a nonstick coating?
A nonstick surface reduces the chances of food residue sticking to the floor of the basket or crisper tray. Nonetheless, it still pays to use various nonstick methods to further enhance the air fryer's capabilities.
If you successfully prevent food from getting stuck to the basket, a dishwasher-safe air fryer guarantees easy cleanup since you just toss it in and let the dishwasher do the rest.
Pro Tip: Use aluminum pans in your air fryer to avoid heavy cleanup.
Presets
More presets only mean you have better flexibility in terms of food preparation. They make air frying more convenient, but one way or another, an air fryer will still cook your food.
Of course, you still need to know what the presets do to maximize your air fryer experience.
Extras
Lastly, consider the extra accessories or features of the air fryer. Sometimes, these are rather small details like recipe books, crisper trays, and grills.
However, there are air fryers with outstanding extra features that they become deal-makers. Smart functions and smartphone connectivity, for instance, introduce you to a new world of air frying.
COSORI vs Gourmia Air Fryer FAQs
COSORI air fryers are some of the best in the market. Even though they're generally more expensive, it's almost always worth the price, especially the latest models.
Low- to mid-capacity Gourmia air fryers are good, but the brand is better known for larger models. The Gourmia 19.8L GTF7580, for instance, is a well-received air fryer with a convection oven.
COSORI and Gourmia are excellent air fryer brands, but brands like Instant Pot, Ninja, and Breville are also worth checking. For example, the Instant Vortex Plus 10-Quart Air Fryer includes accessories like a rotisserie and cooking trays for versatility.
Two Fryers, One Top Choice
That concludes my comparison of COSORI vs Gourmia Air Fryer. After carefully assessing their features, I can confidently say that the COSORI Pro III wins this round.
The smart features and dual heating element redefine the landscape of what air fryers can do. Nonetheless, the best option still depends on what you need at home.If you need more tips on how to choose and use an air fryer, feel free to visit Also The Crumbs, Please.
