35 Bread Recipes Made From Scratch
Bread is a staple in many homes and the foundation for some of our favorite recipes. It's also something that many people love to make themselves.
Whether you are looking for something easy, vegan, or just want to make your own bread from scratch there is a recipe here for you. So take a look around and enjoy! The best part? You don't need a bread machine for any of the recipes you find here!
Types of Bread
We will look at three different types - yeast, quick, and sourdough bread and provide you with a variety of recipes that will suit your needs.
1. Yeast Bread
This is the most versatile type of bread and can be used for sweet or savory dishes. From pizza to cinnamon rolls, yeast dough is the basis of many delicious recipes that we all love so much.
Baking with Yeast
Yeast dough can be made with instant yeast, active dry yeast, and fresh yeast. Fresh yeast is stored in the fridge and isn't widely available. For this reason, many homemade yeast recipes are made with either active dry or instant yeast.
The longer I bake with yeast, the more I prefer instant yeast for yeast dough, as you add it directly to the other ingredients without activating it in warm liquid first. Many of my recipes require overnight proofing to improve the taste and texture of the yeast dough. Therefore, it is preferable to keep the dough cold, which is difficult when using a warm liquid.
If you have enough baking experience, you can easily swap one type of yeast for the other as you wish.
